SAINT LEO, Fla. - Another late-inning rally by the Eckerd baseball team was thwarted by Saint Leo on Monday as the Lions broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning, completing a series sweep.
Eckerd scored three times in the seventh to tie the game, but Saint Leo reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the inning.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Lions took an early lead via a two-out RBI single by Zach Scott in the bottom of the first.
- Robin Allen kept Saint Leo's offense at bay over the next four innings before SLU played two more runs in the sixth again with two outs.
- Eckerd was held scoreless by Ryan Nolan through the first six innings but finally broke through in the seventh. Â Justin Glover walked and Nick Conti doubled to put runners at second and third. Glover scored on a grounder by Chase Achuff before Mitch Calandra and Garrett Hiott each delivered RBI singles to tie the game.
- Saint Leo, however, retook the lead in the bottom of the inning loading the bases with two outs and scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball.
- The Lions picked up their final run in the eighth on a two-out single by Amir Wright.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- All five of Saint Leo's runs came with two outs.
- Achuff's hit streak came to an end at 25 games after going 0-for-3. Â He did reach on a walk, however, to keep his reached base streak alive.
- All three of Eckerd's starting pitchers in the series came away with no-decisions. Â Allen allowed three runs on three hits in six innings in the finale.
- Calandra had three of Eckerd's seven hits, pushing his batting average to .340.
