Tritons Score Early and Often in Win Over Cedarville

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Triton baseball team scored all of its runs in the first four innings, and it proved to be plenty to earn its third straight win defeating Cedarville (Ohio) on a neutral field, 15-8.

Eckerd scored six runs in the top of the first and seven in the top of the fourth while the Eckerd bullpen allowed only two runs over seven innings.

KEY MOMENTS
  • After the first two batters were retired in the top of the first, Eckerd scored six times highlighted by a three-run homerun by Bryan Torres.  Nick Arrivo drew a bases-loaded walk for EC's first run.
  • Cedarville scored one in the first and added two more in the second on a two-run homerun by Logan Eby.
  • Eckerd added two in the third on an RBI single by Garrett Hiott and two-out squeeze by Sam Cochrane, but the Yellowjackets scored three in the bottom of the inning to make the score 8-6.
  • The Tritons blew the game open in the fourth scoring seven runs on only three hits while taking advantage of two errors and six walks, three of which came with the bases loaded.  Arrivo brought in the first runs with a two-run double.
  • The Yellowjackets scored two early in the bottom of the fifth and had runners on second and third with one out before Gardner Nutter entered in relief and extinguished the threat.  Nutter, Jarid Salisbury, and Lucas Spetsas combined for 4-2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
  • Cochrane extended his hitting streak to 16 games with his bunt single in the fourth inning.
  • Eckerd only had eight hits but drew 12 walks and was hit by a pitch six times.
  • Calandra went 3-for-5, the third time in the last four games in which the junior has recorded three hits.
