LAKELAND, Fla. - The No. 3 Florida Southern Moccasins lived up to their ranking on Friday in the first game of a weekend series, jumping ahead early on the way to a 21-2 win over the Tritons.
The Mocs scored in five of the first six innings, including four in the first and six in the fourth, building an insurmountable lead.

KEY MOMENTS
- A two-out error opened the floodgates for Florida Southern in the bottom of the first. Â After Austin Mauer reached on the Eckerd miscue, FSC strung together a triple, single, and two-run homerun before Dillon McCollough got out of the inning.
- The Mocs scored again in the second on a two-out error for a 5-0 lead.
- Chase Achuff led off the fourth inning with a double and came home one batter later on Mitch Calandra's RBI single for Eckerd's first run.
- FSC blew the game open in the bottom of the fourth, once again doing the majority of its damage with two outs. Â A pair of singles and a sacrifice fly plated the first run of the inning, but McCollough struck out Oscar Villaman for the second out. Â However, the Mocs went on to score five more runs before Luis Duran recorded the final out in relief.
- Florida Southern continued to add to its lead with three runs in the fifth and five in the sixth that included a grand slam for Hayden Marze.
- Justin Glover brought in Eckerd's final run with a two-out double in the sixth to score Keith Leavitt, Jr.
- FSC added two more runs in the eighth on a hit batter with the bases loaded and a sacrifice fly.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Seven of the Mocs' 21 runs were unearned as the result of four Triton errors.
- Achuff, Calandra, and Leavitt, Jr. each went 2-for-4 for Eckerd. Leavitt, Jr. extended his hitting streak to 11 games.
- The Triton pitching staff combined for 13 strikeouts.
