WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - After being on the verge of winning the first set, the Eckerd volleyball team ended on the wrong side of a 3-0 sweep against No. 18 Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday night.
The Tritons reached set point in the first set but couldn't close it out, and never quite regained that momentum the rest of the way.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Sailfish jumped out to an early 8-3 lead in the opening set, only to see Eckerd take five straight points. Â The Tritons were able to build a three-point lead on several occasions before reaching set point at 24-22. Â However, PBA won the next four points to steal the first set from Eckerd.
- Palm Beach Atlantic again took a quick lead in set two at 10-5. Â EC again battled and pulled back within a point (17-16) but was unable to tie the set. Â The Tritons still remained within striking distance late at 22-20, but the Sailfish claimed points on the next three rallies for a two-set lead.
- Two Abbie O'Ferrell kills started a four-point run for Eckerd in the third set, tying it at 10-10 after another fast start by PBA. Â The Sailfish later turned a tight set into a comfortable lead of 20-13 following a run of five straight points. Eckerd won points on four straight rallies late in the set but it proved to be too late as Palm beach Atlantic completed the sweep with a 25-19 set win.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- The Sailfish hit .289 in the match while limiting Eckerd to a .111 attack percentage.
- Eckerd had a season-low three service errors in the match.
- Asya Harris was the only Triton in double figures in kills with 11. Â Sarah Johnshoy put away five kills on nine attacks for a .556 percentage.
- Rebekah Machovec recorded a career-high 15 digs while Arielle Erillo had 14.
- Fernanda Reis and Lauren Kadilis each had 12 assists
