Tritons Conclude Season With Loss to Rollins

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd women's soccer team's season came to a close Friday night at Johnson Field with a 2-0 loss to Rollins despite holding an advantage in shots.

KEY MOMENTS

• The Tars scored early as Kathryn O'Brien took a pass inside the box in the 11th minute and scored with a shot to the middle of the net.
• The Tritons looked to equalize in the 24th minute as they nearly converted on a set piece. Paula Astiazaran took two consecutive shots off Lauren Yudin's corner but both shots were blocked just in front of goal.
• The Tritons threatened minutes later on a string of quality looks on goal. Astiazarian's shot was turned back by Tars keeper Kelley Rowswell in the 27th minute. Rowswell was there again for the save 30 seconds later on Cameron Westmoreland's shot and again on Yudin's shot in the 28th minute.
• The Tritons pressed forward coming out of the half as Taylor Fu and Westmoreland both fired off shots in the 47th minute but Rowswell was there for the save both times.
• Westmoreland gave EC another strong look in the 65th minute as she broke free from the Rollins defense and ripped a shot but it was turned back.
• Rollins added to its lead in the 82nd minute. O'Brien collected a free kick in the right wing and dribbled free of the Triton defense to net her second goal.

NOTES AND NUMBERS

• Eckerd held a 19-10 advantage in shots and 8-4 edge in shots on goal.
• The game marked the end of the careers for two Tritons: Haley Knowles and Johanna Andersson.
