FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 22 Eckerd women's basketball team dropped a road contest Wednesday night, 81-55, falling to a hot-shooting Nova Southeastern squad while committing a season-high 20 turnovers and struggling at the free throw line.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game began fairly evenly with Eckerd holding a one-possession lead throughout the majority of the first quarter. Ada Yalcin made a layup in the final seconds of the quarter stretching Eckerd's lead to 13-9.
- Eckerd continued to build its lead at the start of the second quarter pulling ahead by eight points on a Dallas Dickerson layup at the 8:25 mark. The Sharks then went on an 11-2 run over the next three minutes to gain a one-point lead. The two teams went quiet for the next two and a half minutes before Eckerd regained the lead with three minutes left in the half on a layup by Yarden Danan. The Sharks, however, closed the half by making four of their last five shots and scoring on six of their final seven possessions to take a 33-27 lead into the half.
- Nova Southeastern started the second half utilizing an 11-3 run stretching its lead to 12 points. Eckerd went on to score six consecutive points over the next minute to pull within five with 3:46 left in the third. The Sharks responded with back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers, extending their lead by 16 points.
- NSU continued to score efficiently in the final period, giving it plenty of firepower to not allow a Triton comeback attempt. The Sharks went 10-of-13 from the floor in the fourth quarter and led by as many as 28 before taking the 81-55 victory.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Eckerd was led on offense by Yarden Danan and Zoe Richards with 12 and 10 points respectively. Richards led the team on the boards with nine rebounds, while Armi Anttila grabbed eight.
- Eckerd shot 40 percent from the floor but struggled behind the arc with a 21.4 shooting percentage as well as at the free throw line shooting at a 52.2 percent clip. Nova Southeastern, meanwhile, shot 50 percent from the field and 45.8 percent from the 3-point line. Eckerd gave up a season-high 11 3's.
- Eckerd committed an uncharacteristic 20 turnovers, matching its largest total of the season.
