ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- The Eckerd basketball teams continue in conference play this week hosting Tampa on Wednesday in the Battle of the Bay before traveling to Barry on Saturday.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

  • Eckerd (13-5, 7-4 SSC) looks to carry the momentum of two conference wins last week over Saint Leo and Florida Tech as the Tritons host SSC foe Tampa on Wednesday before traveling to Barry on Saturday.
  • The Tritons offense is led by four players - Kacie Juday (12.1 points per game), Yarden Danan (11.0), Zoe Richards (9.7), and Chelsea Johnson (8.8). Richards leads the team in field goal percentage shooting at a 63.5 percent clip. Danan leads the team behind the arc with a conference third-best 39.6 shooting percentage.
  • Juday leads the team on the boards averaging a conference fifth-best 8.2 rebounds per game. Also contributing on the glass are Richards and Armi Anttila averaging 4.4 and 4.3 rebounds per game respectively.
  • Ada Yalcin runs the Eckerd offense with a conference-leading 4.6 assists per game. Yalcin also contributes 6.8 points and 1.6 steals per game.
  • Tampa (12-6, 5-6 SSC) enters the matchup on a four-game losing streak with losses last week to Florida Southern and Lynn. The Spartans are led by two players averaging double-digits: Staja Tyghter (13.0 ppg) and Karma Jeremie (11.3). Tyghter and Jeremie also lead the team on the boards averaging 8.6 and 7.1 rebounds per game respectively.
  • Barry (14-5, 7-4 SSC) enters the week with two wins last week over Lynn and Rollins and is currently tied with Eckerd for third place in the SSC standings. The Bucs have three players averaging double-digits: Kiara Palmer (15.0), Barbara Cousino (14.5), and Ida Andersson (10.6). Palmer also leads the team in rebounding averaging 9.6 per game.  
  • Earlier this season, Eckerd narrowly lost to Tampa 48-44 and beat Barry 69-67.

  • Eckerd (15-3, 8-3 SSC) looks to ride the momentum of two conference wins last week over Saint Leo and Florida Tech as the Tritons host conference rival Tampa on Wednesday and travel to Barry on Saturday.
  • The Eckerd offense is led by four players averaging double-digits: Drushaun McLaurn (19.3 points per game), Trevon Young (16.7), Blake Morrow (13.8), and Keshawn Ingram (10.9). As a team, Eckerd ranks 37th in the country in field goal percentage shooting at a 48.8 percent clip. McLaurn leads the team with a 61.8 field goal percentage ranking third-best in conference and 20th in the country. Ingram and Morrow lead the team behind the arc sinking a combined 67 3-pointers, while Ingram shoots at a 37.7 percent clip from 3-point range.
  • The team dominates on the boards ranking fifth in the country in rebound margin with a plus-10.5 average. Young leads the team ranking third in the conference and 28th in the country in rebounds per game with 9.8. Also leading the team on the glass are McLaurn (6.4) and Marco Behori (6.0).
  • Tampa (7-10, 3-8 SSC) enters the game on a four-game losing streak with losses last week to Florida Southern and Lynn. The Spartans are led by three players averaging double-digits: Pat Bacon (20.4), Marcel Robinson (14.5), and Duke Shelton (14.0). Shelton also leads the team in rebounding averaging 11.5 per game.
  • Barry (12-4, 8-3 SSC) enters the matchup in a three-way tie for first in the SSC with Eckerd and Rollins. The Bucs are coming off a loss to Rollins last week and are idle on Wednesday. The Bucs have four players averaging double-digits: Elvar Fridriksson (22.3), Sawyer Glick (14.7), Sunday Dech (13.0), and Daniel Mortensen (11.9). Mortensen and Dech also lead the team on the boards averaging 7.2 and 6.4 rebounds per game respectively.
  • Earlier this season, Eckerd beat Tampa, 65-49, and narrowly lost to Barry, 93-89.
