Astiazaran Scores Late but Tritons Fall at Lynn, 2-1

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Paula Astiazaran scored a late goal for the Tritons but it wasn't quite enough as the Eckerd women's soccer team dropped a conference road game to Lynn Saturday night by the score of 2-1.

HOW IT ENDED
Final: Lynn 2, Eckerd 1
Records: Eckerd 2-5 (1-3 SSC); Lynn 5-3 (3-0 SSC)
All-Time Series: Lynn leads 12-5-1

HOW IT HAPPENED
* Both teams began the game aggressively, firing off five shots apiece in the first 25 minutes. Eckerd nearly took an early lead in the 7th minute as Marie Zeidler looked to convert on Astiazaran's corner kick, but the shot sailed wide right.
* Abby Sanchez almost put Eckerd on the board in the 13th minute as well rifling off a shot from close range on the right wing but Lynn keeper Alexa Downie was there for the save. Eckerd placed three more shots on goal in the 16th, 17th, and 22nd minutes but Downie stopped each attempt.
* The Fighting Knights broke the stalemate with 30 seconds left in the half. Jamie Perriello finished off a bounce in the box to put the Knights up 1-0 heading into halftime.
* Eckerd threatened to begin the second half as Sydney Tiiman nearly converted on her own corner kick. The ball was sent back to Tiiman in the corner after a clearance in the box.  She fired a shot, but it sailed just over the crossbar.
* Lynn tacked on another goal in the 57th minute to take a 2-0 lead when Donish Henry-Cole scored on a shot from distance that carried left into the net.
* Astiazaran put the Tritons on the board in the 88th minute to give the Tritons a chance to tie in the final minutes. Madison Dilgard's shot attempt was stopped but Astiazaran collected the rebound and punched it in for her second goal in as many matches.  However, EC couldn't get a final shot off before time expired.

NOTABLE
* Astiazaran's goal in the 88th minute was her second goal of the season and her second goal in two games.
* Casey Winn had five saves in goal for the Tritons while Tiiman led Eckerd with three shots on goal.
* Lynn outshot Eckerd 19-9; however, Lynn only had two more shots on goal than Eckerd (7-5).
