MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Tritons controlled the run of play throughout the first half, but two quick goals in the second half proved to be the difference as the Eckerd women's soccer team dropped a conference game on the road to Florida Tech, 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
* Eckerd came out of the gates strong in the first half, rifling six shots with three on goal while holding Florida Tech to three shots. Despite an aggressive start, Eckerd was unable to convert as the match remained scoreless at the half.
* Eckerd's best scoring chance came in the 24th minute as
Abby Sanchez fired a shot but Panthers keeper Karlyn Prisco was there for the save.
Paula Astiazaran took a corner kick moments later, but the Tritons were unable to convert.
* FIT's Keira McCarthy broke the deadlock in the 66th minute, heading in a cross from Mary Watson. The Panthers doubled the score less than two minutes later converting off a corner kick to take a 2-0 lead.
* The Tritons looked to cut into the deficit in the 71st minute as
Kayla Gray had an opportunity, but the Prisco was there again for the save. Florida Tech held EC without a shot for the rest of the match.
NOTABLE
* Florida Tech outshot Eckerd 11-9, but shots on goal were even with four apiece.

Stephanie Linton led Eckerd with four shots, while Sanchez, Linton, Gray, and
Gabriela Martinez each had a shot on goal.
