WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Isabella Wong scored a solid singles win against Palm Beach Atlantic on Sunday, but the Sailfish proved to be too much for the Eckerd women's tennis team in an 8-1 defeat on the road.
Wong outlasted PBA's Dezi Bowman at No. 6 singles, taking a 7-6 (7-4) win in the first set before a comfortable 6-2 win in the second set. Â It was her third straight singles win and squared her singles record on the season at 4-4.
Eckerd (3-8, 0-4 SSC) lost all three doubles matches by scores of 8-2 before entering singles play.
In the No. 2 position,
Joyce Fields played tightly with Leoni Polzin in the first set before falling, 6-4. Â Polzin finished the match with a 6-1 win in the second set.
Palm Beach Atlantic (10-8, 2-3 SSC) won the remaining singles contests in straight sets.
The Tritons return to action on Friday, hosting No. 2 Lynn University at 2:00 PM.
