HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams started the game slowly, but Eckerd was a little sharper in opening the game on a 10-2 run. The Sailfish managed to cut the deficit down to four points, but Armi Anttila strung together back-to-back layups followed by a Juday free throw to give Eckerd a 15-8 lead to end the first quarter.
- Dickerson started the second quarter off with a bang, draining a 3-pointer just four seconds in. She followed a minute later with another 3 to give Eckerd a 15-point lead. The Sailfish went on a 7-2 run midway through the quarter to pull within eight, but Haeli Howard scored five consecutive points for Eckerd in 30 seconds via a 3-pointer and layup, putting Eckerd back up by 15. The Tritons would carry the same lead into halftime at 32-17.
- Both teams began the second half with a hot shooting hand, making a combined five 3-pointers. Eckerd, however, had the advantage as they made back-to-back-to-back 3's, two from Yarden Danan and one from Ada Yalcin. The Tritons went on to score 10 unanswered points late in the period before a Sailfish layup just before the buzzer broke the run and sent Eckerd into the final quarter with a 53-31 lead.
- Eckerd's hot hand would stay alive in the final quarter, utilizing a 12-4 run to extend its lead to 30 points. The run was highlighted by Dickerson and Zoe Richards, who combined to score all 12 points during the run.
