VOLLEYBALL GAMEDAY: First-Place Tritons Set to Host Lynn, Barry over Weekend

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd volleyball team aims to hold on to the top spot in the Sunshine State Conference standings through the weekend as the Tritons host Lynn (Fla.) and Barry (Fla.) in the McArthur Center on Friday and Saturday.

TAKING OVER FIRST: With a thrilling three-set win over Saint Leo (Fla.) on Tuesday night, the Tritons moves into first place in the SSC standings along with No. 21 Florida Southern which came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Tampa on Tuesday.  Eckerd's weekend opponents, Lynn and Barry, are both a half-game back with matching 2-1 conference records.

KILLER "B"'s: In Tuesday's win over Saint Leo, Kali Boatwright and JaQuayla Baker both came up big.  Boatwright had a match-high 16 kills on 29 attempts while adding 12 digs.  Baker had 10 kills and seven blocks, including two blocks that ended sets.

ABOUT LYNN: The Fighting Knights enter Friday's match having won their last two outings, both in SSC play.  Lynn took down Barry in four sets and swept Florida Tech at home. Cleuza Porto leads the attack for the Knights, averaging 4.07 kills per set, while Lydia West averages 2.7 kills per set.  Lynn leads the conference in aces per set (1.89) and opponent kills per set (9.73).

ABOUT BARRY: The Bucs are coming off a 3-1 win over Saturday over Florida Tech and will face No. 21 Florida Southern on Friday before coming to the McArthur Center.  Jaeda Allen is the team's go-to player, averaging 3.54 kills and 4.45 points per set.  She is dangerous at the service line with 21 aces.  Barry leads the conference in opponent attack percentage, limiting teams to just .135 percent.
