ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team had its toughest challenge of the season this afternoon when the ITA No. 6 Saint Leo Lions stepped onto the Fred Bullard Courts.
The Lions (7-1, 1-0 SSC) proved their national ranking with a 9-0 sweep over EC (1-4, 0-1 SSC).
Tritons head coach
Ben Maxwell understood the challenge that his six players had waiting for them and complimented each of their efforts.
"They all competed against one of the top teams in the nation, but they made me proud with their effort," he said.
The Tritons have a short turnaround as they host the Golden Rams from West Chester University of Pennsylvania on Monday. The match is scheduled for a 3:00 PM start.
