ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Coming off of a season-opening contests against the Southeastern Fire, the Eckerd tennis teams return to action this week with theirfirst home matches against Webber International on Wednesday and on the road at Ave Maria on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT: The Tritons were victorious in their first match of the spring season for the first time in recent memory and did so by blanking the Southeastern Fire, 9-0. EC dominated singles play as no player dropped a set while the doubles teams pulled-out a trio of hard-fought victories. The women fell in their matchup, 8-1, as
Emily Fridrik was victorious at first singles, 7-5, 6-1.
HISTORY VS. WEBBER: The last time the Warriors and Tritons squared off in men's tennis was over five years ago on February 16, 2011. WIU took the meeting in a close 5-4 decision at Eckerd. EC's head coach
Ben Maxwell was played first singles and doubles for the Tritons. On the women's side, WIU and EC were last scheduled to play on February 24, 2010, but that match was cancelled.
HISTORY VS. AVE MARIA: Ave Maria and Eckerd were last set to compete on March 9, 2013, but the matches were cancelled. The March 18, 2011 contests between the schools were also cancelled, making the matchups at least five years in the making.
WEBBER VS. AVE MARIA: The most recent outing for both of Eckerd's opponents was against each other on February 17 in a The Sun Conference matchup. The Gyrenes took the men's and women's matches, 6-3, at Webber.
