ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's basketball team brings its seven-game winning streak back to the floor this afternoon when the Tritons host Flagler (Fla.) College in a non-conference contest in the McArthur Center.
Â
ABOUT THE SAINTS: Flagler has struggled in the early portion of the season, coming into today's contest on a four-game skid. Â Those four losses have come by an average of 23.8 points per game. Â That said, the Tritons cannot look past a team that features junior Tiffany Hodge who is averaging a double-double with 12.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. Â The Saints' offense is rather balanced with five players averaging nine points per game or better.
STILL STREAKING: The Tritons extended their winning streak to seven games before the Christmas break with a pair of victories at the Terrace Hotel Classic in Lakeland, including a 73-63 win over No. 25 West Texas A&M. Â A win today would match the program's longest winning streak of eight, set during the 2014-15 season.
AMONG THE BEST: Eckerd is among the national leaders in Division II in several statistical categories. Â The Tritons rank eighth in the country in field goal percentage (47.3 percent), 13th in scoring margin (20.2), 19th in scoring defense (54.8) and 22nd in steals (126).
GETTING TO THE LINE: Junior
Kacie Juday has become one of EC's most reliable offensive weapons, leading the team in scoring with 14.5 points per game while shooting 57.1 percent from the floor. Â However, Juday is also the best in the SSC at getting to the free throw line. Â The Tipton, Indiana, native leads the conference with 76 attempts and shoots 80.3 percent.
