ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's soccer team plays in the Sunshine State Conference semifinals for the first time since 2012, taking on No. 5 and second-seeded Lynn University at 4:30 PM in West Palm Beach.

MOVIN' ON UP: The Tritons made it into the conference tournament semifinals for the first time since 2012 following a 3-1 victory at No. 22 Florida Tech on Tuesday night.  Eckerd scored the first three goals of the night getting strikes from 
Matheus Assumpcao, 
Moritz Hannemann and 
Juan David Tejada.
LAST TIME THEY MET: The Fighting Knights won the regular-season match in Boca Raton on October 15, 2-0.  SSC Player of the Year Jack Watson and Bruno Militz each recorded goals for Lynn while goalkeeper Alexander Roth turned back all six shots he faced.  The Knights have won five in a row against Eckerd dating back to 2012, when the Tritons upset Lynn in the conference semifinals on penalty kicks.  Lynn ended Eckerd's season in 2015 in the tournament's first round.
ABOUT LYNN: The Knights are, once again, one of the premier teams in the nation, entering the night ranked No. 4 in NCAA D-II with a record of 13-1-1.  The team hasn't lost since September 21 when it was bested by Barry, 3-0, and brings a seven-game winning streak into this afternoon's contest.  Lynn boasted seven players named to the all-conference team, led by SSC Player of the Year Jack Watson who has netted 19 goals so far this season.
WHAT'S NEXT: The winner of this afternoon's match advances to the conference championship to face the winner of top-seeded Palm Beach Atlantic and Tampa in the match that follows tonight.  The championship game is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Sunday.
