ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's basketball team returns to the McArthur Center for a busy week of non-conference games starting tonight hosting Franklin (Ind.) College at 7:30 PM.
Â
KEEPING IT CLOSE: After a 16-point win over West Alabama to open the season, the Tritons have been in nail-biters in every game since. Â In fact, all three games have come down to the last shot. Â Eckerd missed a game-tying chance in a three-point loss to Delta State (Miss.) and a game-winning shot in a two-point loss to Florida Tech, then forced a game-winning miss by Embry-Riddle in a two-point win on Saturday.
CAREER DAY: Kevin Walsh posted career highs in both points (22) and 3-pointers (7) last Wednesday against Florida Tech. Â The senior leads the team in scoring along with sophomore
Drushaun McLaurn, averaging 14.5 points per game. Â He needs five more 3's in order to move into sixth place all-time at Eckerd.
ABOUT THE GRIZZLIES: Franklin, an NCAA Division III program, opened its season with a pair of victories including an 88-84 win last night over Florida College. Â Senior guard Aaron Mann, a dangerous scorer who averaged 20.1 points per game last season, netted 29 in FC's first game of the year.
