TIGHT RACE: Eckerd's loss on Tuesday at No. 25 Florida Southern served to tighten the race for first place in the Sunshine State Conference as the Tritons enter tonight's competition in a three-way tie for the top spot at 5-2 with FSC and Saint Leo. Â A win tonight for EC would move the team back into sole possession of first place as both Florida Southern and Saint Leo are idle.
CAN'T BLOCK THIS: The Tritons remain the most difficult team in the SSC to block heading into tonight's contest. Â Opponents record only 1.41 blocks per set against the Eckerd attack, which also ranks fourth in the conference in hitting percentage (.213).
ABOUT THE PANTHERS: Florida Tech comes to Eckerd tonight looking for its first win in conference play. Â The Panthers bring momentum with them, having won all three of their matches at the South Region Crossover last weekend, perhaps finding their groove as the midway point of conference play arrives. Â Three players average over two kills per set, led by Kelly Germain (2.87) while Olivia Hersey (2.68) and Jenna Schaffer (2.20) provide balance to the team's attack. Â FIT currently ranks last in the conference in both hitting percentage (.151) and opponent hitting percentage (.203).
