MEN'S SOCCER GAMEDAY: Tritons Renew Rivalry, Host No. 23 Tampa

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's soccer team adds another chapter to its bay area rivalry tonight as the Tritons host the University of Tampa at the Turley Athletic Complex at 7:00 PM.

AMONG THE LEADERS: After recording his second brace of the season, Eckerd sophomore Juan David Tejada has moved into fourth in the Sunshine State Conference in goals with seven.  Matheus Assumpcao is currently in a four-way tie for the SSC lead in assists with six.  Goalkeeper Alex Gott ranks second in save percentage (.784) and third in goals against average (1.158).

RIVALRY RENEWED: Last season, the Spartans handed Eckerd its first loss in conference play by a 3-1 margin on October 14 in Tampa.  The Tritons are looking for their third win over their bay area rival in the last six years.  EC last defeated Tampa in 2014 winning on the road, 2-0.

ABOUT TAMPA: The Spartans opened the season on an eight-match unbeaten streak before falling to then-No. 15 Lynn (Fla.) at home, 2-1, on October 5.  Tampa peaked at No. 7 in the NSCAA NCAA Division II Rankings, but dropped to No. 23 in today's latest poll following the loss to Lynn.  Fredinho Mompremier is a dangerous striker, ranking third in the conference in goals (8) and in points (18).  Jason Collister has added six goals, helping the Spartans to an average of 3.0 goals per match.
