Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – After winning its first conference contest on Wednesday, the Eckerd College women's soccer team looked to maintain momentum as it hosted provisional SSC member Embry-Riddle on Saturday. However, the Tritons were unable to capture a second straight victory as they fell to the Eagles at the Turley Athletic Complex by a score of 4-0.
ERAU (4-3) was led by a hat trick from Andrea Froshaug with the first goal coming unassisted in the fourth minute of the contest, taking steam out of the Tritons early.
An EC corner kick by
Michelle Spesshardt in the 25th minute found the head of
Alice Wader, but the attempt to equalize the score was thwarted by an ERAU save. After a goal by Annie Gelnaw made it 2-0, the Tritons had another good chance after a foul outside the box near the goal line gave Eckerd a set piece.
Carley Hall lofted the ball inside the six-yard box but ERAU keeper Olivia Lynch barely beat
Corrie Bexley to pull the ball out of the air.
Froshaug got behind the Triton back line twice more in the second half, completing her hat trick with goals in the 61st and 66th minutes.
Despite surrendering four goals, all of which were near the goal box,
Angelique Ulmer was able to pick up five saves on the afternoon including a one-on-one stop of a Froshaug shot.
The Tritons return to action on Thursday, October 1, when the team travels to Temple Terrace to challenge Florida College in a non-conference matchup. That contest is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.
