WOMEN'S SOCCER GAMEDAY: Eckerd at Florida Southern

SETTING THE STAGE
The Mocs (1-3-1, 1-0) have gotten off to a slow start, record-wise, but did win their conference opener over Nova Southeastern on September 16 in overtime by a 3-2 margin.  The Tritons (3-2-1, 0-2) hope to snap a two-match skid in conference play after close losses to Saint Leo and Florida Tech.  Eckerd needs to come away with a win tonight to avoid getting too far behind in the conference standings.

LAST TIME THEY MET
Arie Anahory converted a penalty kick in the 60th minute to lift Eckerd to a 1-0 win over Florida Southern in Lakeland on October 8, 2014.  FSC held a slight edge in shots (9-7) while the Tritons placed one more on frame (5-4).

INSIDE THE SERIES
Eckerd leads the all-time series over Florida Southern, 10-7.  The last three matches in the series have been decided by a 1-0 margin with the Tritons winning the last two.

SCOUTING THE MOCS
Florida Southern's record may be a bit deceiving.  Two of their three losses have been by a one-goal margin, including a 1-0 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic in which the Sailfish scored in the 85th minute.   Caroline Evers leads the team in goals with two, both coming in the team's 3-2 win over Nova Southeastern.  Gianna Conte, Anna Griessler and Sheila Ramos have each scored one.

LAST TIME OUT
The Tritons took a season-low eight shots on Saturday in a 2-1 loss at Florida Tech.  The Panthers scored goals in the 20th and 51st minutes to take a 2-0 lead before Michelle Spesshardt converted a set piece in the 73rd minute to cut the lead in half.  Eckerd, however, was unable to find the equalizer on its way to a second-straight conference loss.  Angelique Ulmer stopped six shots in the contest.
