MEN'S SOCCER GAMEDAY: Florida Southern at Eckerd

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Coming off a 1-1 draw against then-No. 8 Florida Tech, the Eckerd College men's soccer team will look to build on that momentum as they host Florida Southern at 7:00 PM at the Turley Athletic Complex.

SETTING THE STAGE
The Tritons (3-0-1, 0-0-1) are off to the program's best start since 2007 and will aim to pick up their first conference win against a Florida Southern (1-4, 0-1) team looking for redemption after being outscored in their last two outings by a combined score of 12-0.

LAST TIME THEY MET
A Nick Jackson penalty kick in the 34th minute gave the Tritons an early lead, which they held until Edward Spansk equalized the match in the 87th minute.  Neither team scored the rest of the way resulting in a 1-1 draw in Lakeland on October 7, 2014.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Eckerd holds a convincing lead in the all-time series with Florida Southern, 28-10-4.  The Mocs' last win over the Tritons came in 2013 by a 5-1 margin.

SCOUTING THE MOCS
Florida Southern has been on the wrong end of two lopsided results in its last two outings, losing 4-0 to Nova Southeastern and 8-0 to Palm Beach Atlantic.  The result against NSU is a little deceiving, though, as it was a 1-0 match until the Sharks scored three times in the final 11 minutes.  The team's lone win thus far came over the University of Alabama at Huntsville on September 11 by the score of 2-1.  Jordyn Henderson, Jonathan Radvogin and Jimmy Oatman have each scored a goal for FSC.

STAYING UNBEATEN
With a win or a draw tonight, the Tritons will match the longest unbeaten streak to open a season since 2007 when the team won its first five contests on the way to a 12-8 campaign.

LEADING THE CONFERENCE
Sophomore goalkeeper Alex Gott has been fantastic in the early season.  He currently leads the SSC in goals allowed average (.474) and save percentage (.846) as he and the Triton defense have allowed only two goals in four matches.
