Box ScoreSAINT LEO, Fla. – Taking on their second nationally ranked opponent of the week, the Eckerd College women's tennis team fell to No. 5 Saint Leo on Thursday, 9-0.
"The women had a tough week this week, but I was proud to see them fighting hard until the end," said Head Coach,
Ben Maxwell. "We will get back to work tomorrow, preparing for PBA this weekend."
The Lions came out strong in doubles competition, allowing the Tritons a mere three games out of all the contests.
Gipson Hawn had her hands full in the No. 1 slot facing off with the No. 14 player in the country, Isabella Robbiani. Hawn fell in the first set, 6-0 but fought back in set two, taking home three games before dropping the match, 6-3.
Laurence Bourgault competed in her second singles competition of the season taking on Coralie Pesenti. The freshman gave it her all on the court scrapping out three games before falling, 6-1 and 6-2.
EC will host Palm Beach Atlantic on Sunday at 2 p.m. for their final home match of the year.
