Box ScoreWINTER PARK, Fla. – In their final conference matchup of the season, the Eckerd College men's tennis team fell to No. 12 Rollins College, 7-2 on Saturday morning.
The Tritons (6-10, 0-6) trailed the Tars (11-8, 2-3) by a mere one point heading into singles play before RC pulled away.
"I am very proud of the men today," said Head Coach,
Ben Maxwell. "Even though we lost, today was a positive for us, it showed us that we can compete with some of the top teams. We are really looking forward to our final match against PBA tomorrow"
Competing in the No. 2 doubles slot, the duo of
Stephen Felman and
Victor Appelqvist took home an 8-6 victory against an extremely competitive Rollins team. The pair ousted Robin Marchione and Jacob Herrero for their eighth win of the season.
EC grabbed their final victory of the day in singles play.
Connor Masella bested Michael Schweizer in straight set decisions playing some of his best tennis of the season. The freshman gave up a mere four games taking home the win in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-2.
The men will be back in action for their final match of the season tomorrow. Weather permitting, the team will host Palm Beach Atlantic in non-conference action at 2 p.m.
