Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College baseball team played host to Southeastern University on Tuesday night, falling to the Fire, 11-4.
Ben Deaver toed the rubber for the Tritons and started off nicely tossing three hitless innings. In the fourth, a two out two run single for SEU gave them an early 2-0 lead. EC was able to cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the inning.

Carter Cashman from second with a shot through the left side bringing the score to 2-1.
A grand slam along with another run scored gave the Fire a comfortable 7-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning. Eckerd was able to get a run back in the bottom half with an RBI off a rope to left from
James Petika to plate
Jake O'Rourke.
The Tritons cut the lead to just three after bringing in two runs in the seventh. O'Rourke lined a single into left field allowing
Nick Hill to walk in after he tripled to leadoff the inning. The EC right fielder was brought around to score by Cashman who doubled to the wall for his team leading 17
th RBI of the season.
Southeastern tacked on four more runs in the eighth on two hits capitalizing on an EC error. The Tritons were unable to bring in anymore runs with the Fire taking the game 11-4.
Deaver was tagged with the loss moving his season record to 1-1. Six relievers combined to throw the final five innings of play for Tritons.
Adam Moreau, Petika, O'Rourke and MacMahon all collected two hits in the ball game. Cashman and Moreau both tallied a two bagger while O'Rourke scored twice.
Eckerd (13-14, 3-7) will take the short trip over the bridge to take on the No. 2 ranked Tampa Spartans for a three game series. Game one is set to start Friday at 6 p.m.
