No. 8 Barry Holds Off Tritons in Miami Shores

Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The Eckerd College women's soccer team fell on the road on Wednesday night at No. 8 Barry University, 2-0.

A goal by Barry's Molly Sharpe in the sixth minute put the Tritons at an early deficit.  Despite the goal, Eckerd was able to play step-for-step with the Bucs in the first half sitting nearly equal in shots (6-5) at halftime.

However, opportunities were harder to come by for Eckerd (4-5-1, 1-4) in the second half.  The Tritons managed only one shot in the final 45 minutes, an equalizer attempt by Taylor Tippett in the 58th minute that was stopped by Barry keeper Paula Forero.

Shortly thereafter, the Bucs (8-2, 4-1) notched their second goal on a counter-attack when defender Katie Turner pushed the ball out of the back and connected with Shanice Robe who sneaked a shot past EC keeper Angelique Ulmer in a one-on-one situation.

Despite being outshot 14-6 in the match, Eckerd placed more shots on goal (4) than did Barry (3).

The Tritons return to the Turley Athletic Complex to play four of their final five regular-season matches, starting with a 7:00 PM contest against Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday.
