Box Score WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Eckerd Triton volleyball team had 12 more kills than their opponent on Saturday afternoon, but couldn't overcome 27 attack errors in a 3-0 loss at Rollins.
Eckerd had 47 kills to 35 for the Tars, but Rollins hit .252 with only nine errors, including none in the second set.
The two teams went back-and-forth in the first set until a run of four straight Rollins points gave the Tars a 16-12 lead. Eckerd (12-9, 3-6) managed to get back within a point, but the Tars pulled ahead again getting six points off of Triton errors to take a 24-17 lead.
EC, though, battled back to take the next six points and cut the lead to one before Rollins took set point on another Eckerd error.
The Tritons took a 9-5 lead in set two but again came undone due to errors, making four straight as Rollins (8-13, 4-5) moved back ahead at 11-9. Eckerd took the next two points to tie the set before the Tars ran off five more in a row for a 16-11 lead. The lead grew to as many as eight points and eventually turned into a 25-19 set win as Rollins went ahead two sets to none.
In the third set, Eckerd looked to be on its way to extending the match by methodically building a 19-15 lead. However, Rollins put together another six-point run to erase the Triton lead. EC tied the set at 22-22 but couldn't retake the lead as the Tars finished off the sweep with a 25-23 set win.
JaQuayla Baker led the Tritons with 14 kills while
Tjasa Kotnik and
