Panthers Edge Tritons in Non-Conference Match

Box Score MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Eckerd Triton men's soccer team out-shot Florida Tech on Wednesday night, but the Panthers made more of their opportunities on the way to a 2-0 win over the Tritons in a non-conference contest.

Florida Tech (5-4-2) scored both its goals in the first half, opened by Adin Kavara in the eighth minute when he headed in a cross from Jack Willison.  The lead doubled in the 32nd minute when Trey Collins finished off another Willison cross.

The Tritons (7-4-1) took 13 shots compared to 12 for the Panthers, and had several opportunities late as they tried to pull back into the match but couldn't get a shot past FIT keeper Mitch Thorn.  Alexandre Coste made his first start in goal for Eckerd, stopping four shots.

Tonight marked the second time this season the two teams met, playing to a 1-1 draw on September 19 in St. Petersburg.

The Tritons remain in a tie for third in conference heading into their final two matches starting with a visit to Nova Southeastern on Saturday for a 7:00 PM kickoff.
