No. 4 Sailfish End Eckerd's Unbeaten Streak

Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Eckerd men's soccer team saw its unbeaten streak finally come to an end at eight, as the high-powered offense of No. 4 Palm Beach Atlantic proved difficult to contain.

The Sailfish, who entered the night as the top-scoring team in Division II, scored as many goals in one match as the Tritons had allowed in their previous eight on the way to a 3-0 win in a battle of unbeaten teams.

PBA (11-0-1) struck in the 22nd minute when Lucas DaSilva scored from distance for his 13th goal of the season.  Despite being out-shot in the first half, 8-2, the Eckerd defense managed to hold strong and limit the Sailfish to the one DaSilva goal.

A hand ball in the box led to a penalty kick for the Sailfish, which was converted by Tom Gavin in the 50th minute.  Ten minutes later, Oscar Farias notched his seventh goal of the year to make it a 3-0 lead for Palm Beach Atlantic.

Eckerd (7-1-1) was able to generate more of an attack in the second half with five shots, but couldn't slip one past PBA keeper Steeven Raymont.  Alex Gott stopped four shots for EC.

The Tritons get back into conference play on Wednesday, paying a visit to Tampa for a 7:00 PM match.  The Spartans are in second in the SSC standings behind Eckerd.
