Volleyball Falls in Five Sets to Rollins

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – In a heart breaking five set match, the Eckerd College volleyball team fell to Rollins College Wednesday night.

Throughout the entire night, the Tritons (7-4, 0-3) and the Tars (8-4, 2-2) were battling back and forth.

After taking the first set, EC fell in both sets two and three. They came back strong to win the fourth set, but fell in an extended fifth set. 

The freshman came alive as Lauryn Nelson strung together, a career high, 15 kills. Madison Whiting also stepped up to the challenge and tallied 10 kills on the night and added 17 digs for a double-double.

Ali McAlvany continued to show her experience on the court as she led the team in kills with 16.

With sets one, three, and five surpassing regular points, the Tritons and Tars were each determined and relentless.

As the night drew on, Emily Schadow picked up the Tritons countless times to get them back into the game. Schadow matched her season high with 35 kills on the night.

Tjasa Kotnik flexed her strength on the court as well, tallying 13 kills.

Libero, Kaitlyn Sibson, was all over the court as she collected 22 digs, one shy of her career high.

The Tritons look to earn their first conference win Friday night, as they take on Florida Southern at home. The game is set to start at 7 p.m.
