Soccer Falls to Saint Leo

Box Score

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College men's soccer team fell to sixth ranked Saint Leo University under the lights on Wednesday night, 2-1.

The Lions (3-0-2, 0-0) jumped out in front during the 18th minute when Max Geisthovel was able to break free and give his team a 1-0 lead.

The rest of the first half was a back and forth battle. Both teams fell short on capitalizing on opportunities.

A hand ball in the 51st minute led to a penalty kick by Nick Jackson. Jackson drilled home his fifth goal of the season in the upper right corner of the net bringing the game to a 1-1 tie.

The tie did not last long as Saint Leo scored the go ahead goal a minute later.

EC (2-4, 0-0) fought hard to get back in the game but could not find the back of the net as Saint Leo claimed the 2-1 win.

The Tritons will welcome Barry University to open up conference play on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
