Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College men's soccer team fell to sixth ranked Saint Leo University under the lights on Wednesday night, 2-1.
The Lions (3-0-2, 0-0) jumped out in front during the 18
th minute when Max Geisthovel was able to break free and give his team a 1-0 lead.
The rest of the first half was a back and forth battle. Both teams fell short on capitalizing on opportunities.
A hand ball in the 51
st minute led to a penalty kick by
Nick Jackson. Jackson drilled home his fifth goal of the season in the upper right corner of the net bringing the game to a 1-1 tie.
The tie did not last long as Saint Leo scored the go ahead goal a minute later.
EC (2-4, 0-0) fought hard to get back in the game but could not find the back of the net as Saint Leo claimed the 2-1 win.
The Tritons will welcome Barry University to open up conference play on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
