Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The conference opener did not go as planned for the Eckerd College volleyball team who fell in three sets to Barry University on Friday.
The Buccaneers (8-1) jumped out to a 14-4 lead early in the first set before the Tritons clawed back into contention.
Mackenzie Redner served up a game tying ace to put the score at 23-23 before taking a 24-23 lead on a kill by
Ali McAlvany.
EC could not complete the comeback as Barry came away with the 28-26 victory in set one.
Set two was tightly contested before the Bucs pulled away with the 25-16 win.
Eckerd jumped out to a lead in set two before BU tied it up, 18-18. The set was a back and forth battle that delivered five lead changes before the Tritons fell, 26-24.

Michelle Piantadosi said of the loss, "we have to respond in serve and receive and execute offensively. Number one, we have got to show up ready to play from the
beginning."
McAlvany was able to grab a double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs while
Emily Schadow led the team with 19 assists.
EC (7-2) won't have to wait long to get back on the court with their next match coming Saturday against Nova Southeastern University (6-4). The game is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
