ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.
– The Eckerd College men's tennis team dropped a non-conference match to Warner University on Saturday afternoon at the Dick Bullard Courts, 7-2.

The Tritons (1-5, 0-3 SSC) picked up one doubles victory and one singles victory, while Warner (7-0, 4-0 TSC) took two doubles meetings and the top five singles slots.

"The men fought a hard match today," said EC interim head coach Ben Maxwell. "Luke Burton and Madison Durley won a tight doubles match to give us a point leading into singles. Unfortunately, Warner was tougher than us today and we lost a few deciding matches that should have been won. I am proud of Eddie Lewis' performance to pull out a solid pro set."

Junior Luke Burton and senior Madison Durley claimed the doubles win for the Tritons and are now 2-0 on the season as partners. Burton and Durley defeated Daniel Mora and Vitor Schepper in the No. 3 doubles match, 8-6.

Sophomore Yosua Adiyasa and partner Frazier Springfield and Stephen Felman and teammate Nikita Valuiskikh both fell to their respective opponents 8-2.

Freshman Eddie Lewis owned the lone singles victory for Eckerd on the day in an 8-6 triumph in a single pro-set format over Schepper in the No. 6 spot. The win was Lewis' second of the year in singles play.

Adiyasa worked his singles match to three sets against Warner's Julian Ramirez, a 2012 Honorable Mention NAIA All-American, in the No. 1 spot. After falling 6-0 in the first set, Adiyasa rolled to a 6-4 second set win, but would ultimately drop the deciding set, 6-1.

The Tritons will take on Coe (Iowa) College on Tuesday, March 4, at 3 p.m. EST on the Dick Bullard Courts at the Turley Athletic Complex.
