Box Score

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -  The Eckerd College men's basketball team went 2-0 at the Tampa Classic after defeating Limestone College on Sunday, 60-47.

It was the final game of 2014 for the Tritons before taking a break for the holidays. Keshawn Ingram got the nod earning his first start of his collegiate career. The freshman did not disappoint draining a three for the Tritons first points of the game.

The first half saw seven lead changes with both teams battling hard for supremacy. Ray Darnell went to the line midway through the first half and hit both of his free throws to give

EC a 12-9 lead. Limestone's Assad Woods dropped in a go ahead layup to go up, 13-12. Jerrick Stevenson and Ingram combined to score seven consecutive points to retake the lead with less than seven minutes remaining on the clock.

With 3:20 until halftime, the game was tied up 20-20. A clutch three pointer by Kevin Walsh and a two point bucket from Malcolm Brunner Jr. sent Eckerd into the locker room with a 25-22 lead.

Limestone held the Tritons scoreless for the first three and a half minutes of the second half before Walsh was able to drive the lane for a layup. Limestone managed to take a four point lead, 38-34, with 8:49 left in regulation.

Eckerd then ripped off a 15-0 run that spanned three minutes giving them an 11 point lead, 49-38. The scoring surge gave the Tritons breathing room allowing them to bring in fresh legs off the bench. EC held the double digit lead through the final five minutes of play bringing home the 60-47 victory.

Ingram led the Tritons with 11 points while adding two assists. A trio of players ended with 10 points each including Walsh, Stevenson and Brunner. Darnell finished with eight points, four rebounds and three assists.

With the win, Eckerd moves to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in SSC play. The team will take a break and return to action on January 3 against Lynn University. The conference matchup will start at 4 p.m. inside the McArthur Center.
