Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – In a SSC matchup, the Eckerd College men's soccer team went into double overtime with Florida Southern College on Tuesday and played to a 1-1 tie.
A battle of possession ensued from the get go with both teams trying to gain the advantage and get off a clean shot.
In the 34th minute, a hand ball in the box resulted in the Tritons getting a penalty kick.
Nick Jackson took the shot and drilled home his sixth goal of the season.
The EC defense played their hearts out clinging to a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Alex Gott stayed strong in the second half, but in the 87
th minute FSC snuck in a goal to tie it up, 1-1.
Both teams were unable to put in a go-ahead goal during regulation and the match went to overtime.
Jackson managed a clean shot with :30 left in OT but the Mocs goalkeeper came up with a huge save to send the game into a second overtime.
The Tritons managed one shot by
Wyeth Leemon in the second OT which was blocked.
FSC managed a flurry of shots in the final couple of minutes that missed the mark. Gott recorded his final save in the 107
th minute to give him five on the night and subsequently keep the game at a 1-1 tie.
Marcus Lohrmann played the entire 110 minute contest, never stepping off the pitch.
"I am very disappointed that we couldn't hold onto the win with three minutes to go," said Head Coach,
Cristian Neagu. "In the end I am very proud of the boys for playing as hard as they did and it is certainly a step in the right direction for us."
The tritons (2-6-1, 0-1-1) will host Florida Tech (5-3-1, 2-1) in a SSC matchup on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
