Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - With only seconds left in the match, the Eckerd College women's soccer team drilled a ball into the back of the net for a thrilling 2-1 finish to senior night on Tuesday.
Although the Tritons trailed for the majority of the game, fate was on their side as the clocked ticked down.
The first half of the match would see one early goal for Florida College and 14 shots for the Tritons as the Florida College defense stood strong.
EC went into halftime trailing the Falcons, 1-0.
As the ball bounced around in front of the goal,
Hannah Peterson was able to gain control and get a shot off and tie the match up at 1-1 in the 54
th minute.
Peterson continues to make an impact during her freshman campaign as she grabbed her fourth goal of the season.
Both teams would battle it out as Eckerd ripped off ten shots in the second half, but could not find the back of the net.
With seven seconds remaining in regulation, one senior got the goal of a lifetime. As
Arie Anahory tipped the ball over the top,
Holly Buresh was able to drill it past the keeper for a picturesque moment at the Turley Athletic Complex.
The stadium erupted for the senior, who has only one previous goal in her career. The lead would stick as the clock ran down and the Tritons earned their eighth victory of the season.
Six Tritons were honored tonight for their blood, sweat and tears they have given to the program. Five of the six have been here for four years, building the program from the bottom up and turning the team into a conference contender.

Kaitlyn Curley, and
Sarah Trumbull will be missed as they prepare to take the field for their last regular season game on Saturday.
"I am so proud of our seniors and what they have accomplished in their time at Eckerd," said Head Coach,
Danielle Fotopoulos. "The last second win tonight will build momentum going into a big conference matchup against Barry."
The Tritons (8-6-1, 3-3-1) have a vital game ahead of them as they will face No. 2 Barry (10-1-2, 6-0-1) in a home contest on Saturday that will determine the matchups for the conference tournament. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
