Box Score TAMPA, Fla. – It was a great night for the Eckerd College men's soccer team on Tuesday night defeating the University of Tampa in a 2-0 victory.
The Tritons came out of the gate playing with a great amount of enthusiasm.
Marcus Lohrmann took a shot in the 21
st minute that did not go in which was followed by a shot from
Nick Murawski which also missed.
The third time was the charm when
Matt Dolan took the third consecutive shot in less than a minute which was blasted to the back of the net to put EC up, 1-0.
Stellar defense kept the Tritons up going into halftime.
Dolan was not done taking part in the scoring festivities sending a pass to
Richard Ainscough who put in the second goal of the game. For Ainscough, it was his second goal on the year.
Just like in the first half, the defense was relentless and continued to deny the Spartan offense of goal scoring opportunities.
With five saves on the night, goalkeeper
Alex Gott recorded his second shutout of the season.
For Head Coach
Cristian Neagu, it was his first conference win at the helm of the Tritons.
"I am very proud of the guys," said Neagu. "They worked extremely hard and they deserved the result."
Eckerd (3-9-1, 1-4-1) will continue their road trip and take on Nova Southeastern on Saturday. The SSC match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
