Box Score SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Eckerd College women's soccer team fell to No. 23 Saint Leo on Wednesday night, 3-1.
The first half of the match was grueling as Saint Leo rattled off 13 shots to Eckerd's three.
A scoreless first half was snapped in the 38
th minute as the Lions shot a ball past EC goalkeeper,
Morgan Crescent.
The Lions were not done yet, as two minutes into the second half they tallied another goal, bringing the score to 2-0.
Saint Leo had one last goal against the Tritons in the 70
th minute of the game.
Six different Tritons had shots against the Lions but only one managed to find the back of the net.
In the last minute of the game,
Hannah Peterson drove the ball to the back of the net, breaking up the Lions shutout. The goal was Peterson's second of her rookie campaign.
While the Tritons have been hot in SSC play, tonight's loss was the first conference loss on the year.
The Tritons (7-4, 3-1) look to get back on track on Saturday as they are slated to face No. 13 Rollins College(10-2, 5-1). The match will begin at 4:30 p.m.
