Box Score SAINT LEO, Fla. – Delayed 30 minutes by weather, the Eckerd College men's soccer team fell to No. 9 Saint Leo University on Tuesday night, 3-0.
The Tritons gave the nationally ranked Lions everything they had in the first half.
SLU managed to outshoot Eckerd 5-4 during the first 45 minutes of play with neither team being able to find the back of the net.
Alex Gott came up with a big save for the Tritons to keep the Lions off the scoreboard and take the game into halftime tied up, 0-0.
The game changed quickly in the early minutes of the second half when Saint Leo scored on a header in the 51
st minute to break the tie.
The Lions offense stayed on the attack adding a second goal by Henry Adu, bringing the score to 2-0.
With the game still within reach, the Tritons fought hard to get on the board as
Richard Ainscough got off a strong shot, but was denied by the Lions keeper.
Saint Leo would add one more goal in the 83
rd minute as the Tritons fell, 3-0.
Eckerd (2-8-1, 0-3-1) will look toward Saturday when they host Rollins College (6-4-1, 2-2-1) in an SSC matchup. It will be a special night as the nine Triton seniors will be honored before the game begins at 7 p.m.
