Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College volleyball team took down Florida Tech in four sets on Friday night, 3-1.
Ali McAlvany and
Tjasa Kotnik were unbeatable on the court, tallying a combined 33 kills.
The first set was back and forth as both teams struggled to keep the lead. Going into extra points, Eckerd stole the first game of the match, 26-24.
Florida Tech (6-10, 1-7) took an early lead to start off the second set as Eckerd was unable to gain control and stop the Panthers falling, 19-25.
Kaitlyn Sibson continued to be a star Libero for the Tritons in the back as she grabbed 15 digs on the night, as well as the second kill of her young career.
EC got up on the Panthers early and didn't look back as they took home the win in the third set, 25-16.
McAlvany led the charge in the fourth set securing her ninth double-double of the year with 13 digs and 17 kills.
"It was a great focused team effort tonight. We took care of the ball very well on our side. I'm so proud of Ali and Tjasa for leading us offensively and defensively." said Head Coach,
Michelle Piantadosi.
The win was Piantadosi's 51
st of her young career with Eckerd.
The Tritons rallied together to end the match in four sets, defeating the Panthers in the final set, 25-16.
Eckerd (10-7, 2-5) will be back in action tomorrow against Lynn at the McArthur Center. The match is set to start at 4 p.m.
