FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.
– Sophomore Taylor Bullock and senior Amanda Teets claimed respective decisions in singles action as the Eckerd College women's tennis program contested No. 16 Nova Southeastern University closely on Friday afternoon, 7-2.

The Tritons (0-4, 0-4 SSC) have now faced nationally-ranked teams 16 through 18 and fourth-ranked Lynn University to begin the spring.

The Sharks (3-3, 2-2), also carrying a current ranking of seventh in the South Region, pulled to an even .500 overall and in the Sunshine State Conference.

Bullock battled through a third-set tiebreaker in the No. 4 singles slot, overcoming a first-set setback against NSU's Bianca Roberts. She forged through the second set to make things even, 6-4, before winning a third-set tiebreaker, 10-4.

It marked Bullock's first win in singles action this season after she paced the Tritons with six victories as a freshman.

Teets defeated Nova Southeastern's Kamryn Blackwood in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, in the No. 6 matchup to account for another point in the final team score. She also collected her first win of the spring campaign.

Sophomore Carson Trapp played the No. 1 position and dueled against No. 37 nationally ranked (No. 10 South Region ranked) Shark Alexandra Johansson. Trapp combined with senior Manon Ironside in doubles action, competing in the No. 3 matchup.

The Tritons are back in action tomorrow morning in Miami Shores against No. 5 Barry University at 10 a.m. The Eckerd men are also scheduled to take on the Buccaneers, ranked fourth in the ITA Top-25 Poll.
