PENSACOLA, Fla.
– The Eckerd College volleyball team finished its weekend at the University of West Florida Regional Crossover with a win over the Christian Brothers (Tenn.) University on Saturday afternoon, 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-11).

With the straight-set decision over the Buccaneers (8-12, 4-5 GSC), the Tritons (11-8, 2-4 SSC) ended the tournament against Gulf South Conference opponents with a 2-2 record.

Eckerd junior middle blocker Katarina Milojevic was selected to the UWF Regional Crossover All-Tournament Team along with nine others following a vote by the participating coaches.

Eckerd's first win in the UWF Field House came against the University of North Alabama on Friday, while dropping tough matches to host No. 19 West Florida on Thursday night and Valdosta State (Ga.) University on Friday afternoon.

Taking a 16-11 lead in the first set, the Tritons went on a four-point run on junior Ali McAlvany's serve. McAlvany tallied a kill and a service ace in the run, while junior Grace Jones added a kill to help the Tritons coast to an early one-set lead.

In the second set, the Tritons took another early lead, 12-4, courtesy of seven unanswered points en route to a 25-20 final in the frame.

Sophomore setter Emily Schadow collected two service aces, Jones and Tjasa Kotnik contributed one kill apiece and the Tritons took advantage of three Christian Brothers' errors in the seven-point run.

Eckerd continued to hold the lead throughout the third set, never allowing the Buccaneers to come within four after an opening 6-2 run. Eckerd was aided with the help of four service aces from Madison Burr -- tying her season-high -- and eight Buccaneer attacking errors.

Jones led the Tritons with nine kills, while senior Lindsay Biggs and McAlvany collected eight kills each.

Eckerd outhit Christian Brothers .265 to .059, with Milojevic accounting for six of the team's 14 block assists.

Eckerd will return to the Sunshine State Conference schedule on the road at Florida Tech in Melbourne next week. The Panthers will host the Tritons on Friday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. EST.
