BOCA RATON, Fla.
– Paced by five players in double figures, the Eckerd College men's basketball program snapped a second-half tie to take control down the stretch at Lynn University on Wednesday night, 81-70.

Senior forward Darrien Mack mixed in a pair of two-handed slams and a 13-for-14 effort at the free throw line that translated into a game-high 21 points. He also grabbed eight rebounds, including three on the offensive end.

Junior guard Alex Bodney recorded nine of his 14 points from three-point territory, senior guard Woody Taylor contributed a dozen with three steals while freshman E.J. Moody and junior Junior McLeod each had 10 in a reserve role.

The Tritons have (12-4, 5-3 SSC) have won three consecutive Sunshine State Conference games to close out the first half of the league schedule and are winners in five of their last six.

A back-and-forth tussle highlighted the first half while neither team could get more than four points of separation.

On three separate first-half possessions, the Tritons were able to earn that four-point edge, only to be answered on the other end by a Lynn basket.

Lynn's second-leading scorer Slobodan Miljanic, left midway through the first half with an apparent shoulder injury, but sparked his team by returning from the locker room with a long three and two free throws before halftime.

The Fighting Knights (10-8, 2-6 SSC) took a 32-31 lead into the break.

After shooting just 1-of-10 from long distance in the first half, EC found its rhythm in the second, making 6-of-10 attempts from deep.

Thanks to a number of timely treys, the second half was reclaimed by the Tritons despite resistance from Lynn and the home crowd.

Bodney and Moody each connected from deep to help combat a small Lynn run that tied the game at 50-50 with 11:40 left to play.

After a few traded baskets, Taylor drilled back-to-back triples that helped put the Tritons up, 61-54. LU trimmed it to one again, but Mack and Moody came back at the Fighting Knights' defense for layups.

Taylor restored the seven-point lead foul with two free throws after a technical foul was assessed on Lynn, effectively extending his streak to 38 straight conversions at the charity stripe.

The Tritons took care of business at the line to seal the decision, knocking down 12 consecutive free throws in the final five minutes to close out the game.

The Tritons will begin the second half of the SSC schedule this weekend at home, hosting Rollins College with a 4 p.m. scheduled tip in the McArthur Center on Saturday.

The third Triton Tailgate of the season will also be held during halftime of the women's contest (2 p.m. tip) where free food and beverage awaits at the pool adjacent to the McArthur Center. The event is free to all in attendance.

Tickets for the SSC Championship on March 6-10 in Kissimmee will be available for purchase at the front door on Saturday. Single-session tickets for the conference tourney in Silver Spurs Arena will be available for $8 while $48 presale booklets with a pass for each session can also be purchased.
