Box Score
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. –
Emily Johnson scored two goals and Arielle Anahory added a score and assist to help lead an offensive barrage for the Eckerd College women's soccer team on Friday night in a win against Coker (S.C.) College, 4-1.
Callie Pederson assisted separate goals for the Tritons (3-4, 0-1 SSC) as they outshot the Cobras (0-6, 0-0 TCC), 26-5, and scored a trio of second-half goals in an 11-minute span.
It didn't take long for the Eckerd offense to get in sync after Johnson found the net just 42 seconds after the opening whistle.
Coker temporarily tied the match at 1-1 in the 26th minute and the score would stay the same until halftime.
That's when the Tritons' offense shifted into high gear, riddling the Cobras' defense for goals in the 55th, 59th and 66th minutes.
Anahory drilled home the go-ahead and eventual game winner at the 55:36 mark, her team-leading third goal of the season.
Johnson headed in her second goal of the contest less than four minutes later before Adrianna Garcia cleaned up the scoring with a 20-yard shot on target at the 66:48 juncture.
Colleen O'Brien was credited with an assist on Garcia's blast that gave Eckerd a three-goal advantage.
The Tritons are back in action on Monday, playing host to Webber International University for a 7 p.m. affair at the Turley Athletic Complex.
