Rashad Callaway scored a game-high 25 points for Tampa (18-5, 7-5), and Fred Woods contributed 17 points.

It was Eckerd's first win over a nationally ranked opponent this year.

The Tritons led by as many as 15 points in the first half before taking a 40-31 lead at halftime. Eckerd shot 52 percent for the half, while holding the Spartans to 29 percent.

But the hosts roared back in the second half, using a 16-2 run midway through the frame to grab a 67-62 lead with 9:13 remaining.

The teams combined to make seven field goals the rest of the way, but the Tritons went 15-for-16 from the free throw line to win it.

The teams combined for 50 fouls and 81 free throw attempts.

The Tritons will continue a two-game road trip at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Nova Southeastern.
