ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College women's basketball team upset 19th-ranked Rollins College for the second time this season on Saturday, making nine 3-pointers during a 68-51 win at the McArthur Center.

Kati Rausberg scored 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting, and Taylor Young added 16 points, as the Tritons (13-8, 6-5 Sunshine State Conference) won for the third time in their last four outings.

Eckerd shot 54 percent from the field, its best effort at home this season. The Tritons shot 57 percent in the first half to build a commanding 41-23 lead.

“We shot the ball well, but we really set the tone defensively,” said Eckerd head coach Paul Honsinger, whose team defeated Rollins 72-71 on Jan. 8 in Winter Park.

“We contained their dribble drive, and I thought that was the difference in the game.”

Kristina Mingos led the Tars (19-4, 7-4) with 14 points. Rollins shot just 31 percent from the field.

Rausberg and Young combined for 30 points in the first half, and the Tritons used a 16-0 spurt during a six-minute stretch.

Eckerd, which never trailed, led by as many as 26 points in the second half.

“For whatever reason, we just seem to match up well with Rollins,” Honsinger said. “This is a big win for us. We put two solid games in a row together, and we shot the ball really well in the game before that. I would hope we get a lot of confidence from this.”

The Tritons will travel to Tampa for a 5:30 p.m. contest on Wednesday.
