Reserves Lead Men's Basketball Past Sharks

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Freshman guard Alex Bodney scored a career-high 12 points and was one of five Tritons to score in double figures, as the Eckerd College men's basketball team took an 80-65 win at Nova Southeastern on Saturday.

Quincy Okolie had 11 points and 10 rebounds, helping the Eckerd bench outscore NSU's reserves 42-5.

John Harper added 11 points, and Dale Carn and Wayne Sears Jr. chipped in 10 points each. Chris Gray had seven assists combined with just one turnover.

The Tritons (17-6, 8-5 Sunshine State Conference) shot 57 percent in the first half – 45 percent overall – and held NSU to just 30 percent from the field.

Eckerd used a 10-0 run during a 4:20 stretch in the second half, helping the visitors extend a 47-43 lead to 57-43 with 12:26 remaining. The Tritons led by double figures the rest of the way.

John Brooks scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Sharks (12-10, 5-7), while Robert Huntington added 19 points.

Eckerd, ranked fifth nationally in rebounding margin, out-rebounded NSU 50-35.
