WINTER PARK, Fla. – Myk Brown scored 20 points, and Nick Wolf had 14 points and 10 rebounds, as Rollins College took a 70-69 win over the Eckerd College men's basketball team on Saturday.
The Tars (11-4, 3-1 Sunshine State Conference) used a 13-0 run in the second half to erase a 10-point deficit, and followed with an 11-2 spurt later in the frame to hand Eckerd (11-3, 2-2) its first road loss of the year.
Senior guard John Harper had a game-high 21 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Tritons. Senior center Dale Carn tallied 14 points, while Wayne Sears Jr. had 11.
Eckerd shot 55 percent in the first half, while holding Rollins to 31 percent, but only led 31-27 at halftime. The Tritons were hampered by 11 turnovers, which helped Rollins attempt nine more shots.
The Tars warmed up in the second half, shooting 52 percent, and went 20-for-24 from the free-throw line (83 percent).
The Tritons shot 47 percent overall and were 17-for-20 from the free-throw line (85 percent).
Eckerd started the second half strong, scoring nine unanswered points to take a 10-point lead, and still led 45-35 with 14:59 to play. But the Tars took control, holding Eckerd scoreless for nearly six minutes, to grab a 48-45 advantage with 9:38 remaining.
Rollins eventually got the lead up to 61-51 with 3:31 to go and held on in the final minutes.
The Tritons will travel to Florida Southern for a 7:30 p.m. contest on Wednesday.
