North Alabama Sweeps Volleyball on Saturday

FLORENCE
, Ala. – North Alabama hit .375 en route to a 3-0 win (25-17, 25-17, 25-23) over visiting Eckerd College on Saturday afternoon.
 
Natalie Marsh had 12 kills on 17 total attacks, while Ari Smith and Hristina Markova each had 11 kills, as the Lions (8-4) won for the seventh time in their last nine matches. UNA had three regulars hit better than .470.
 
Junior Ariana Chinn paced Eckerd (5-8) with eight kills, as the visitors struggled offensively with a .148 hit percentage. The Tritons did out-block UNA 7-2, with Chinn and freshman Niara Greathouse each tallying three block assists.
 
It was the second meeting this season between the schools. Eckerd took a 3-1 win at the Comfort Inn-Vitational in Pensacola, Fla., on Sept. 4.
 
On this day, however, UNA had its offense rolling early -- hitting .516 through the first two sets. The Lions used an 11-5 spurt to finish the opening set and scored the first four points of the second to take control.
 
UNA hit .630 in the second before the Tritons held the hosts to a .150 clip in the final set. Eckerd fought off three consecutive match points before the Lions finally put it away.
 
Eckerd will return to Sunshine State Conference play at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Florida Tech.
