ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Nicolas Garcia scored two goals during a four-minute span, as Florida Tech defeated the Eckerd College men's soccer team 2-0 on Saturday at the Turley Athletic Complex.
Garcia scored in the 73rd minute and again in the 77th, as the Panthers (3-4, 1-1 Sunshine State Conference) picked up their first SSC win of 2010. Nick Robinson had an assist on both goals.
The Tritons (4-3, 1-1 SSC) out-shot Florida Tech 15-7, including four from senior forward
George Marchant. Eckerd had four shots on goal, with Florida Tech goalkeeper Brentton Muhammad making each save.
Eckerd controlled much of the opening half, out-shooting the Panthers 9-4, and had a couple of quality chances. The hosts had six shots in the second half – compared to just three for Florida Tech.
The Tritons will continue SSC action at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Tampa.
